ENG 2100: Writing 1 with Jay Thompson

Nana’s Reading Responses 11/8

    1. I love to cook  for my friend. I will invite my friend to my house, and then I will choose the ingredients I need in the supermarket. When I get home, I will arrange all the ingredients one by one, wash them, organize them, and then I can start cooking. At the end, when it is ready to eat, I look forward to the comments of my friends. Every time my friend will compliment me and I will feel more likely to look at many different receipt online, and ask what they like. So finding new recipes and cooking new things are things I’ve pursued entirely for pleasure.

2.  One of the things that happens to me most often is when words pop up on the Internet. When I first saw it, I had no idea what it meant, and then I felt motivated to research what it meant. Eventually I’ll know what the words mean, and I’ll learn how to use the Internet to research the words I want to know.

I like cosmetics very much and I am curious about how lipstick is made. I will watch a lot of homemade lipsticks and videos on how lipstick is made on TikTok. Gradually I know how lipstick is made and what is the difference between expensive lipstick and cheap lipstick. Curiosity led me to do research.

What bothers me is the final essay of my Art History class. Because it’s not a subject that suits me. So I need to do detailed research on my chosen topic in order to get a good grade.

3.   Something about research that I learned for the first time in Lunsford and Ruskiwicz is when I started my essay or my paper. What I want the reader to see might not always be what the reader actually sees and understands. It’s only what I think they might know, but actually I need to write it in a different way and involve the topic I choose in different areas. So while the people with different thinking reading my paper can get the most understanding of what I’m trying to illustrate.
