I never knew that your life could change so much in just one day. March 6, 2020. It was my junior year, and I was in my computer science class, not paying attention, because I didn’t understand the material and it was an elective class so it didn’t really matter. I get a twitter notification on my phone that reads, “Lil Uzi Vert has dropped Eternal Atake”. I instantly took my air pods out of my bag and they flew into my ears. I was waiting for this album to drop for years and it was finally the moment to listen. I clicked on the first track titled, “Baby Pluto” and the first words were “Welcome to Eternal Atake”. I couldn’t believe what I was listening to, and I was so excited to hear the rest of the album. I listened to a couple of the songs, and it was going pretty good so far. Then my best friend Frankie tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Yo bro we have the next 2 weeks off because of the new virus called Covid-19″. At that point I was happy, I think everyone was happy. I remember days before we were looking at news reports of the first covid-19 case as I said, “bro there’s no way that this virus can affect us”. But once I heard that we had off school because of it, I began to get slightly worried, but I figured that it would pass and that we go back to school after. Those 2 weeks turned into a long almost 2 years.

I can definitely relate to you being initially happy after hearing the news. But after a while, we realized the severity of the issue and just wanted everything to return to normalcy. My favorite line is, ” Those 2 weeks turned into a long almost 2 years” This sentence shows how unpredictable it was and how it it had unexpectedly made such a huge impact on your life.
The reaction to “Eternal Atake” finally coming out was exactly what happened to me too. I like how you ended ” Those 2 weeks turned into a long almost 2 years” It shows the impact of quarantine on all of our lives and the severity of the whole situation.
You structured this paragraph very well, it so easily drifted into your topic of COVID which is pretty cool. For me I didn’t get the notification for my two weeks on the same week you did so it took me a little to connect the dots, but it only made the transition that much better because it wasn’t expected.
I remember how happy i was when I heard we have 2 weeks off school because of covid-19. I thought I could use this time to improve on mental health since junior year was extremely stressful. However, those two weeks turned into two years, like you said, and had to complete all of senior year remotely, which sucked honestly.
I am very interested to read more about your essay as you mention that before the virus we all thought that this virus can’t affect us and I very curious to know about your experience after the 1 year of the virus detection.
