These first three months at Baruch were definitely stressful. I am just adapting to this new environment. Honestly, compared to the work i get now, high school was such a joke. I really wish i was prepared more for such a drastic change. However, there were some positives. I made some friends as well learned new study habits. Trying to maintain a high GPA is a lot of work though. I’m still in shock that this is practically the end. Its kind of scary how fast it went. Anyways, i have become more independent; in college, you can’t really depend on anybody but yourself. So yea. That basically sums up my experience during this first semester. I’ll miss freshman seminar the most!

The enrichment workshop was interesting. We were asked if we liked our experience with New York Cares. Personally, i loved when i volunteered with New York Cares. I love working with other people as well as meeting other people. Other than that, it was just a great experience and great view (it was a swimming event by the Hudson river). I would definitely volunteer for another event in the near future. Also, at the workshop we watched this video where basically it explained how although it seems as if the world is crashing in on you, there is always a way out. It kind of describes my current situation. This semester has been extremely stressful and i am still adapting to this new environment. But i know i will be free, at least for a bit after this semester ends and it will get better along the way. The enrichment workshop was definitely inspirational. The man also expressed how interacting with others can lead to happiness.

Basically for the New York Times ‘Front Page’ assignment, my group and I chose sports. We all seem to enjoy both playing and watching sports. It’s great entertainment and a way to kind of keep your mind off of things. It brings excitement. I think sports and being active in general is important during your first semester at Baruch College. You want to try to be active in clubs or sports to get to know people and you might even get tot know yourself a bit better. Building relationships is important so don’t be shy. Put yourself out there! I actually haven’t even looked into joining a team or club but i would love to. Looks like a lot of fun and I’m pretty sure none of us want our four years to be miserable/boring at Baruch.

Hey guys! I’m Karina, nice to meet you all. I’m Dominican and Ecuadorian. Let me tell you about myself. Honestly, I’m just a regular kid. I will always be a kid at heart; afraid of growing up. To think that the decisions i make now will affect who i am in the future is a really big responsibility. It was all easy when we were kids; i think everyone would agree. No worries, no stress. But, i feel as though we don’t necessarily have to change who we are. I love Spongebob, and don’t you forget it! I honestly have no shame. I’m a goofball, i can laugh at almost anything. But that doesn’t mean i don’t take things seriously. I actually take school very seriously, as well as any other type of work. I owe this to my family, who have always been there to support me in any type of situation. I love them and can’t live without them.I don’t know where in this world i would be without their support. Even my younger cousins give me confidence in my future. I follow the saying, “fall seven times, stand up eight”. Now matter how hard things may get, i know that i should never give up. So i guess this is me. I’m outgoing, i love food, I’m a goofball, i love football (jets fan), etc. I hope you guys like the video, i just added this to show, in a way, my kid side (starring my little cousins).

PS. I tried to explain myself in the order of the pictures.
