BLOG POST #4 !

By attending the enrichment workshop on values and benefits of service, I learned about unfamiliar benefits to helping others. Not only is volunteering a nice way to help and give back to others, but according to Dr. Stephen Post, providing your service to others is also good for your health! He emphasized love and with other scientists created studies on unlimited love. He is convinced that people who give are much happier than others and also live longer. Studies and surveys show that volunteering helps people feel stronger and healthier. Researchers have actually conducted a study where they interviewed 12 year olds and about 100 of them said they wanted to help humanity. The researchers then went on and followed the kids who said they want to help the world and studies showed they had lower levels of heart disease, diabetes, and asthma. Most of these kids have lived up to their late 90s.  I was surprised that there are real surveys to prove these claims and overall I think the enrichment workshop motivated me to volunteer whenever I can.
