The fact that I forgot all about the enrichment workshop until my friends reminded me it was mandatory five minutes before it began should demonstrate my enthusiasm towards it. Not only was it a waste of time in my opinion, but it was also during a time period that normally is allowed for me to go around the school and check out anything I find interesting. During the workshop my thoughts regarding it changed ever so slightly but not enough for me to care. I understood the whole part about doing good makes you feel good from experience but that was about the only section of the presentation that I was able to relate to. Overall, I do not recommend the school making next years freshmen suffer as I have by sitting through the entire program.

This gif describes the first three months of my college career at Baruch because this is what happens most days during class. We are not given assigned seats in most of our classes so of course our group of friends always sit next to each other. And when this happens, it is impossible to pay attention at all times and focus on classwork when there are so many things to talk about. Although this doesn’t only effect our learning, but also the learning of other students, we still talk throughout class because we are having a good time. On that note, I chose this picture out of the millions on the internet because even though this is the car now, I feel that in later semesters and when our classes get more difficult, this picture will no longer be accurate.
NY Times Project
The theme that our group chose for the NY Times project was “events in New York.” This theme is important because it relates to most of the students in our Freshmen Seminar class and ultimately most of the students that attend Baruch. Most people attending Baruch are either from New York or moved here so they can attend this school. In addition, since our campus is considered to be New York, everything these articles talk about effects every single one of us. Finally, this theme and our teams articles are informative and interesting, making it so that readers can become informed while staying entertained.

Dear Professor Rowland,
I am in your Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am english class. I received a grade of a B+ in your class, which came to me as a shock. I reviewed your syllabus and grading policies and after looking back at all of my grades throughout the semester, I believe I should have been given an A. In addition, I have always attended your class and was an active participator. Please take the time to reconsider and recalculate my grade.
Best regards,
Sam Aidan Dougherty-Messing
Sam who?
playlist: http://grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/FRO+Playlist/90696583
Who am I? Although this seems like a simple question, once you ask yourself this question you find that it is the complete opposite. I am a son, a brother a nephew, a cousin, a grandson and so on. I live with both of my parents and I have a sister who is one year older than me. I have a nine year old dog who greets me at the door everyday and licks me whenever he has the opportunity. I have lived in Brooklyn my entire life and wouldn’t be upset if I lived here my entire life.
The person I am today, is a completely different person than I was years ago and I am sure I will be different in the future. This is because the person you are varies depending on your life experiences, your relationships, your attitude and much more. For example, any experiences you have will either have a positive or negative affect on your character, which will result in adjusting who you are even if it is in the slightest bit. Anyway, the person I am today is a current student who is interested in business. I am also a male with ancestors coming from England, Russia, Ireland, and Poland. In this sense I am a very diverse person which explains why my playlist is filled with all different genres of music. In addition, I am half jewish and half catholic, although I am not really religious. I enjoy playing basketball and I fence twice a week. I also collect crystals and like to play words with friends when I get the chance.
Even though knowing what someone likes gives you a decent idea of who that person is, a complete description isn’t complete without know also what they dislike. On that note, I do not like when it rains and I hate when it gets above ninety-five degrees. I hate broccoli unless it comes with the general tso from the Chinese restaurant. I also hate reading books that do not interest me at all. These are a couple of my many hatreds.
In conclusion, I feel like I’m writing a description of myself for a dating website or something, but it is a good way to let people know a little more about you I guess. I forgot to mention that my name is Sam Aidan Dougherty-Messing, which some can argue describes someone the best depending on their reputation. In less than five hundred words I tried to describe myself and I don’t think I did that well but its getting late so this will have to do since I have an essay to write tomorrow.
Peace,
Sam
