NY times reflection

Me and my group chose the project events in New York . We chose this topic because it’s a topic that we have a connection to since we live in New York. I did research and found a couple of interesting events but I chose the article on a lecture that seemed interesting to me and maybe to others. This project was intresting and helped me learn a lot about the events in New York.

New York Times Project Reflection

The theme my group chose for the New York Times Project was science. We chose science because science is something that has existed from the beginning of time, and almost everything relates to science in some way or another. Each member of the group had to choose one article that was related to science, and basically summarize it. The article I personally chose to write about was about a project located in Arizona in which solar energy is stored for later use during the night or when solar energy can’t be obtained. The article  I chose suited our theme because in the article innovation to the uses of the energy that exists was discussed, and energy-like most things- relates to science. Overall this was a good experience where I learned not only from myself, but my group members as well.

Dear Professor Dasdfoni,

I’m sorry to say but I will not be able to attend tomorrow’s class. Over the weekend I developed a bad headache that I thought was nothing, but it got worst yesterday after I came home from volunteering for New York Cares. I think it was from being around the smell of compost for several hours. I’m not sure if what I had grew into a migraine or not, but hopefully rest will make it go away, if not I will see a doctor tomorrow.
Thanks and again my apologies,

New York Times Reflection

The New York Times project went really smoothly. Everybody worked together as a team and had a great time. We each had our own tasks to accomplish. The theme of our project was “Events in New York City”. New York City is one of the most diverse cities in the world. We live in a place that consists of many cultures and we felt that it was important for others to know. After doing this project, I have learned many new facts about New York and am also happy to say that I made new friends.

Subject Line: ENG2150: Clarification on the Homework Needed

Message:

Dear Professor Smith,

This is Jasmine Constantino from your 9:15 AM ENG 2150 Class. I need some clarification regarding the assignment that you gave us, in which we must compare and contrast different elements used in a story. Do you want us to analyze the elements used in one story, or did you want us to take different elements used in multiple stories? I understand the rest of the assignment, clarity on this specific part of the assignment would be very helpful for me. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and answer my question, I greatly appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Jasmine Constantino

Blog Post #2: New York Times Reflection

The New York Times Project was an interesting one that took us all by surprise, indeed. It  immediately required a level of cooperation and collaboration throughout all the members of the group. Together, we came to the agreement that ‘Science’ would be our topic. The topic was broad enough that we could apply it to many things, such as technology, the environment, discoveries, and so on and so forth. Science is indefinitely something that affects us in innumerable ways, so I felt that it was a topic that would provide ease and flexibility when choosing and writing an article.  I chose quite a few articles, and had fun writing them. I summarized the main points of the articles, and its importance in both a scientific and general aspect. Regarding the Bearcat post, I dedicated a portion of it to advancements in science and technology allowing us to be more aware of how much we waste. The project, in general, allowed us to become aware of various events that have occurred recently.

My role as group facilitator was a burdensome one indeed, as such a role always is. My main priority was to make sure everyone knew what exactly to do, so I did my best to write very clear e-mails with in depth directions. I think this taught me a lesson of dependability and working in a team, which is something we’ll have to do throughout our lives. I’m really happy with my group members, as they all came through for me and we were able to finish the project by the initial deadline. All in all, I think the project was helpful and valuable in certain ways, and that it turned out satisfactory.

NY Times Project

The theme that our group chose for the NY Times  project was “events in New York.”  This theme is important because it relates to most of the students in our Freshmen Seminar class and ultimately most of the students that attend Baruch.  Most people attending Baruch are either from New York or moved here so they can attend this school.  In addition, since our campus is considered to be New York, everything these articles talk about effects every single one of us.  Finally, this theme and our teams articles are informative and interesting, making it so that readers can become informed while staying entertained.

New York Times Project Reflection

Our group selected the topic of diversity as our theme for the New York Times project. We live in one of the most diverse cities in the world as well as study in one of the most diverse colleges in the country so to our team it seemed like a great topic to tackle since we could all relate to it. The article I chose for the project was about how California went about making their colleges more diverse. Since diversity is a big topic when it comes to the colleges selection process, I thought that the article would be a perfect fit. Thanks to what I learned from the article I am now more aware about laws like Affirmative Action, and look for articles pertaining to it on new sites.
