The Life of Brian Kim

FRO Blog 1 <~ (8 Image Slideshow)

Hey guys! This is an eight image slideshow that describes my life and what I like to do. It doesn’t really explain my WHOLE life, but you’ll get the general ideas from these pictures hopefully. The first picture is a picture of me! That small asian girl next to me touching my face is my best friend Song. It was taken in my room a few hours before I left for vacation in the summer of 2012. The second picture is of a place that I would really like to live in one day. I have visited South Korea many times before and I have family there. I really like it there because it is more modern, clean, and…well..the people are nicer haha. I wish to live somewhere near Seoul, the capital. The third picture I put up to show that I love to sleep! Who doesn’t love to sleep?!?!? Sleep is one of the best things ever and I love to sleep in my spare time. However, if you see me dozing off in class or something, please kindly wake me up. The fourth picture is of a karaoke place. One of my favorite things to do is to hang out with my friends at a karaoke room. It sounds more fun than you think. It brings all my friends together and I have so many cherished memories of going to karaoke with my friends, especially from this summer. The fifth picture is to show that I love to travel. Whether it be by plane or boat or whatever, I just love to visit many cool places. I really like going to warm vacation spots too, like the Dominican Republic and Mexico! The sixth picture is to explain that I like to play video games. Some of my favorite genres would be fighting, jrpg, simulation, and more. I like Street fighter, Darkstalkers, League of Legends, and Animal Crossing. I don’t have too much time to play video games anymore but I still do occasionally when I’m really bored. The seventh picture is of a Kpop idol named Hyorin!!!! Hyorin is the leader of a Kpop group called Sistar. She is my favorite idol and she has been nicknamed as “Korea’s Beyonce” for her amazing voice. She has a very compelling charm when she sings and I love her laugh.I like all of Sistar but she is my ultimate favorite. The last picture I have in this set is a photo booth picture of me and my friends from last week at Dave and Busters. We always have fun and I have them to thank for all the great times I’ve had this summer. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am today and I couldn’t ask for better friends (p.s., there are more friends that I didn’t put pictures of because I couldn’t find pictures with them in time). I hope to make more friends like this at my time in Baruch. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Angela’s world

Hi everybody! I’m Angela but I think (hope) you know that:) I hope you get to know me a little better after this blog post!

This first picture shows where I use to live. Tenerife, Canary Islands. Beautiful place, but as you may see, very different to New York. Although I was born in Madrid and raised there until I was 10, I can say Tenerife is my home. I’ve lived some of my best moments in that island, met some of the best people I’ll ever meet. Tenerife will definitely be part of my life forever.

FAMILY. What an important thing. I have them to thank, for EVERYTHING.
This picture shows the 5 most important women in my life: my mom, Itziar, my sister Paula, my niece, Danielle and my two dogs, Chiqui and Cocó.
Let’s not forget about my brother (in-law). He’s one of the most important men in my life. He’s been part of my life since I was 10 years old and I cannot thank him enough for everything he’s done for me.

Here’s the other two: My father and grandfather.

My father is the main reason why I decided to move here to New York. Although he hasn’t been physically with me during these years, I’ve never felt his absence. He has been the best father I could have asked for.
163340_10151419003349857_142115435_n
This is my grandfather or as I call him, ‘Lalo’. Although he is no longer with me, his fighting, enthusiastic spirit stayed with me. He has been an inspiration.
Now lets talk about my friends. Family is everything for me but friends are too. These are my best friends. They drive me crazy (sometimes) but they have been by my side in the good and the bad moments. We like to have a good time, anywhere and everywhere. It could be going to the movies, laying down watching TV, going to the beach, shopping (by the way, all things that I like doing), as long as we are together. These pictures were taken the day of my 18th Birthday. It was my first birthday with them as I normally spend it here in New York and I have to admit; They really treated me like a princess!

These last two pictures are very important to me. They represent my present and future. Im ready to live this new chapter we’re all starting which looks like is going to be GREAT!! Lets do this!

Jakey P From Down The Block

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Jakes+Inspirational+Tunes/90629966

Hello fellow LC11 classmates. My approach on this assignment was auditory, as I love utilizing my ears for pleasing sounds like music and such. The playlist I created, which I named: Jake’s Inspirational Tunes, speaks in the same way that I do, and I feel it adequately represents who I am. Each song represents a characteristic of mine, and I am excited to share these inner characteristics with my homies at LC11. Below is a list of each song, which is playable in the link I attached. Enjoy.

Apartment Story by: The National: This one is pretty basic. I was born in a suburban household and lived in one my whole life. My life story until now was at home. Currently my life story is an apartment story. And as time passes the story will continue to develop.

Blessed ft. Kendrick Lamar by Schoolboy Q: I am a very spiritual person. I cherish every day that I live, and I look forward to the next. I feel blessed in every aspect of my life, and I am proud that I can say that.

Byegone by: Volcano Choir: Most people don’t know what this word means, but it means “belonging to an earlier time.” I am jewish, and we follow customs and traditions that have been observed for thousands of years by other jews. In that aspect, many of the things that I do are byegone.

Daily Routine by: Joy Bada$$: Organization is always one of my top priorities, and to that respect my daily routine is very organized. I like having a plan going into my day, as I feel that can lead to the most enjoyable day.

Fashion Killa by: A$AP ROCKY: This one is also pretty simple, I’m a straight up Fashion Killa!

Fidelity by: Regina Spektor: Fidelity means faithfulness, and expressing loyalty and support to a cause. I return favors by expressing my loyalty to someone  for what they have done, and from that point I will be forever faithful to that person.

For Body and Kenzie by: Teen Daze: This one was not on the music site, so I have a link attached at the end of this section. This song doesn’t have any inner meaning, it is just spontaneous and fun, just like me. If you listen to any songs, listen to this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2DYofn3MbQ

Keel by: Volcano Choir: This artist loves weird worded songs. A keel is the foundation of a boat. In the ocean a boat need a strong foundation to support it through the rough waters. This foundation allows it to get from point A to point B. Because of my supportive foundation, which has developed over the past few years through my experiences, allows me to get from day A to day B, and beyond.

Luck of Mine by: Bishop Allen: As I said before, I cherish everyday, and that is because I feel lucky. This luck of mine not just gets me through time, but gets me through it enjoyably.

DNA by: Danny Brown: This song finishes off this playlist well. I am who I am and I will do everything in my power to improve myself, but some things are just meant to be. People need to think about what they have and not what they don’t have. All of us are different, quite different actually, and we all need to embrace and take advantage of those unique traits of ours.

Getting to Know Izzy

Hello, my name is Ismael, or Izzy, whichever you prefer. Anyway, here’s my music playlist:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1DBEcmG6C4NZplPClJ5WXd8qsM_zG9Tz&feature=mh_lolz (lol at the last four letters)

Number 1, I Walk Alone by Tarja Turunen, is (supposedly) based on her being fired from her former band Nightwish, and stating that she’s still standing strong as a solo artist. This song connects to me because even though people have tried to bring me down in the past, I overcame these problems and used them to make myself stronger.
Number 2, Win by Brian McKnight, is about not giving up, no matter what life throws at you. This song represents me not giving up, no matter how tough the challenge is, even Calculus Homework.
Number 3, We Are the Champions by Queen, is about fighting to the top and achieving victory (another way to say “Started from the Bottom”), which represents my sense of accomplishment of completing high school and my acceptance to Baruch.
Number 4, Cat’s in the Cradle by Harry Chaplin, is about a father who can never make time to spend with his son, and when his son grows up, he never has time to spend with his father. While it doesn’t necessarily relate to me, it reminded me that your children only grow up once, and it’s an event you should witness and make the best of.
Number 5, Take on Me by a-Ha, is about taking chances in relationships, and life in general. It convinced me of what I just mentioned, that I should take risks in life when necessary.
Number 6, Field of Innocence by Evanescence, is about growing up too fast and discovering life isn’t all sunshine and lollipops. This connects to me for obvious reasons, discovering how cruel life can really be.
Number 7, Bodies by Drowning Pool, relates to me because I find wrestling entertaining (I know it’s fake though), and this song is somewhat related to that.
Number 8, Acceptance Speech by Dance Gavin Dance, involves acceptance in society, which pertains to me because I used to concern myself a lot about this, but now I consider it best to just be yourself.
Number 9, Vom Selben Stern (We’re From the Same Star) by Ich und Ich, is a German song about everyone being equal, even displaying this by showing the singer’s image constantly changing into different people from various backgrounds, yet sending a message that we’re all from the same world, which I respect a lot. What strikes me as amazing is that the singer has an Arabic background, but is a popular German singer, reminding me of myself as a half Egyptian, half German person.
Last but not least, In the End by Linkin Park, which is about living in the moment and not by the clock. It also means that it’s not the destination that matters, but the journey that makes the biggest impact. This song has taught me a lot.

That’s all, folks! Hope you enjoyed it.

Your boy, Alvi

Michael Qiu & This Is My Story

Click Here for Michael’s awesome playlist

My name’s Michael Qiu. I made a song playlist to represent who I am so you guys can get to know my interests and personality better. The first song’s my current favorite Korean song called False Hope by Song Ji Eun. I am a big fan of K-Pop and Korean dramas. During my free time, I tend to watch Korean dramas cause they’re awesome and my mom watches them too. The second song is called Put It On The Line by CIU and the video is a mix of Kobe Bryant’s plays. He’s my idol and someone that I want to be. I love basketball and I would do anything for a chance to play on an NBA team. But I’m too short.. This song’s also a good song that I like to listen before playing basketball games. It gets me pumped up and ready. The third song’s a remix made by Mother Earth of the songs Cry by Jay-Z & Friends Forever by Vitamin C. I like this remix. But I chose this because I value friendship. Once you’re a friend, you’re always a friend. I love making new friends and keeping the relationship strong. The fourth song’s Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. This song’s about living life to the fullest and not planning everything out. Every day is a blank page that’s waiting to be filled. I have this kind of mindset, to live life to its fullest. The fifth song is Started From the Bottom by Drake. Like the song title suggests, I started from the bottom and now I’m here. I used to be very shy and I wouldn’t be joining clubs or rushing for Delta Sigma Pi. But now, I’ve gotten over shyness to some extent. I would attend these random events either for the hell of it or to meet people. The sixth song’s Wing$ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This song talks about Air Jordans and how they are overpriced and famed to make people believe that those shoes can enable people reach their dreams like Michael Jordan. I don’t buy Air Jordans that much but basketball shoes are very important to me and I do wish that I could reach my dreams (to play professional basketball) with some Air Jordans on.  The seventh song’s Hey Mama by Kanye West. I love my mom and I want to make her proud.  The eighth song’s Lightning’s Theme from Final Fantasy 13. This is my favorite final fantasy game and Lightning’s my favorite character. She is a great leader and I want to be a leader like her.  The ninth song’s Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. I’m proud to be a New Yorker. The Big Apple’s my home. The last song on my playlist’s a song from my favorite Korean group Girls’ Generation, Genie. This group enabled me to meet new people through the group’s concerts and fan meetings. And that’s about it! This is my story.

About Me, Nick G

HA! that rhymes ^ and I didn’t even try to do that, the following 8 images are some that represent my life before Baruch

imagesThis is my old High school, Carlmont, it is in Belmont california. I have had many fun times here, and it is where I met the majority of my friends.

imgresThis is Linda Mar, a beach in Pacifica, This is where I surfed with my friends, there is also a Taco Bell right on the beach (its off the picture, so your just going to have to trust me) witch is super convenient.

13560_10151606988698450_1255704192_nThis was the last photo I took with all of my friends, unfortunately not everyone was there, but it was at a going away/surprise birthday lunch type thing. The two guys with their hands under their faces, looking all cute and stuff are my best friends Connor and Trevor (trevy), and help me develop into the person I am today.

ATT-Park1This is AT&T Park, where the San Francisco Giants play, I am a big baseball fan, and ever since I was little my dad had always brought us to games

urlThis is my car (not the exact one but same year and color and everything). I love my car because everyone drives in California, and once you get your licence you basically get your freedom, so my car and I have been through some adventures.

Live105-Logo-2013-300wLive 105 is my favorite radio station back home, it plays alternative rock, and it’s one of those stations where I will be like “they should play (what ever awesome song” and then out of no where that song comes on.

candidThis is a photo I took (actually my friend took it with my camera) and edited of my friend while driving up to the city, It was for my photography class. photography is hobby of mine, I don’t normally take photos of people, and instead take really abstract, over edited ones, but I like this one.

DisneyCheshireCatfor all of you with sad childhoods, who have never seen alice in wonderland, this is the cheshire cat, and I would not say that he is a role model, however I do like him although I’m not 100% sure why. I used a quote from for my senior quote in the yearbook; “oh, you can’t help that, most everyones mad here”

B Cakeyy’s First Blog

Hola Clase! Mi nombre es Basilio.

So these are a few pictures that will allow you to see some stuff you may not know about me.

-In the first picture you see 3 of my best friends and I. Their names(from left to right) are Akshay, Jon and Davide. I’ve known them since middle school and we’ve been very close ever since. I’d have to say that they, among a few others, heavily influenced who I am today.

-In my second picture you see the band I was in during high school. We went by the name, The Cardboard Chessmen(don’t ask me why), and we were a Rock/Rap fusion group with influences from reggae and funk.  We wrote a lot of original music and had an amazing time together. The band was sort of one of the biggest applications of my musical knowledge. We played local concerts and high school events. Next summer we plan on reuniting when everyone comes back from college.

-The third picture shows me at my current job as a bartender. It was sort of something I picked up through another job I had as a stock boy at a liquor store in Astoria. It’s a fun and great way to make money.

-Picture four just pretty much shows where I’m from. My mother is Brazilian and my father is Greek. I love both countries that I’m from and have a great sense of pride.

-This picture, the fifth, shows Action Bronson, who is currently one of my favorite rappers. In fact I am seeing him live in Philadelphia on September 27th. Rap is one of the main things I listen to but I love all types of music. Rock, rap, classical, jazz, reggae, electronic, house, etc.

-The sixth picture is one of my big and beautiful high school, New Rochelle High School. My high school’s campus was much larger than Baruch College and didn’t have a much smaller graduating class than Baruch’s freshman class of 2013. I loved my high school, it and the people I met there have had a massive impact on my life and many of them will never be forgotten.

-In the seventh picture you can see my mother and I at this past new years party. My momma loves me od.

-The last picture is one of me playing chess in union square. Chess was a very big part of my life from elementary school to high school. I used to seriously compete in regional, state and national competitions. I have a bunch of trophies collecting dust. I won 9th place in NY state as an individual competitor, and my team won 3rd at Nationals.

Vanessa in a Nutshell

Hi I’m Vanessa 🙂

These pictures describe who I am. The first picture shows how I was a diva as a child, I loved dressing up, and I was sassy; most of you can see that I haven’t changed much! The second picture is a perfect way to describe the current me- classy and dressed up but I never in denial of my sport and the fact that I am an athlete. The third picture shows three generations of strong, independent women from youngest to oldest. My Abuela and Ma are the most phenomenal women in my life. They raised me to be everything I am today and have shaped most of what I will become, my love for them is unconditional. The fourth picture is of me and “B-Love”, my mini-me, my headache, my world- my brother all in one. The picture perfectly describes our relationship and goofy tendencies. The fifth picture is of me playing basketball, which is not only a passion to me- it has become a lifestyle. I am a different person when I play, my soul is freed. This sport has given me my competitive edge and it has been a reflection of the power of diligence. The sixth picture shows me acting onstage in one of my school’s plays. I have a particular love for acting, and if I had enough experience to pursue a career in it, I would. The seventh pic was taken this past summer on my vacation to Dominican Republic. I’m a risk-taker, so I believe that facing your fears (and surviving after) is one of the most beautiful things in life. The last and final picture shows complete happiness with my favorite quote. If God blessed us with so many positive things in life, the least we can do is find a reason to laugh and smile each day… I hope you find something to smile about today 🙂
