Shawntell James – Blog post #2

               politics
The theme my group selected for ourNew York Times “Front Page” was politics. We decided that this was a topic that always had something new to talk about and would be broad enough to not only interest ourselves but more importantly our peers. Once we chose politics we ventured off,  allowing each member to pick topics that interested them and related to the topic. Again the broad topic gave each member the freedom to take their reports in any direction.
In my group, I was responsible for finding and summarizing one article that interested me, and writing the Bearcat article. The Bearcat article had to be one that related to our school, so I chose an article written inour school newspaper, The Ticker, about in-house elections in our Undergraduate Student Government. My experience in this project has increased my news literacy. I follow the news more closely than before and am able to have fluent conversations about current events going on in the world.
I enjoyed sharing my ideas with my peers so it was an enjoyable experience presenting the articles I had chosen and summarized with my peers. It was also nice to know that the other members of my team worked hard on their parts as well.
