Monologue
I look back at my life
As it changes,
When I am freed from my cages
In the stages,
Of embarrassing phases,
So I turn the pages.
And love different people and places
But drool over the same beautiful bodies and faces
So I keep up with the latest
Ill be loud and vivacious
Girly and flirtatious
But deep down I want warm embraces
And for you to be there for me – whatever the case is
We live in a world that is outrageous
Where you are always expected to be gracious
Make it seem like life is painless
And only the privileged can achieve greatness
So when I am in my old ages
And done working for my wages
I want to be remembered as courageous
And set an example that is contagious
Stop being embarrassed and start being shameless
Stray away from sameness
Because you will be faceless and nameless
For what will you be famous?
It won’t be painless, but you will achieve greatness.
Freshman Seminar Blog Post 1
To be honest, compiling my life into eight photos was a difficult assignment. But, as I was rummaging through my pictures, I realized that this is actually a great opportunity. I have the chance to reintroduce myself, to show who I really am, and present my life in the way that I want it to be seen.
For starters, the beach is my all time favorite thing in the world. The picture i chose was one that i took myself last year in St. Marteen. A fun fact is that whenever I feel sick, stressed, cold, or anything else unpleasant, i picture myself relaxing on the beach. Oddly enough, i actually enjoy the complete opposite as well – skiing. Although my love for the beach would make you think that summer is my favorite season, it actually isn’t. I LOVE the winter. Everyone is happy because of the holidays, and December is my birthday month! So naturally, i look forward to winters. Year-round, my favorite food is ice-cream. This was hard to choose because i love all food and felt bad leaving out pasta, sushi, pizza, bagels, and more, but that alone would take up the 8 picture limit. The next picture is with my sisters. One is 20, and the other is 6. I sometimes complain about them, but my Rebecca gives me great advice, and Isabel brings out my fun and responsible sides. My “selfie” with the Baruch Bearcat is included because i want to show my pride in going to such an amazing school! I included a picture of my best friends from high school, Becca and Casey. Usually, before college, people’s closest friends are the ones they met in kindergarden. In my case, I met Becca and Casey in my junior year, and felt like i have known them my entire life. One of my best memories with them is when we went to the Kanye West concert. We had such incredible seats, and I got to see Kim Kardashian and the rest of the family! The last photo is probably the most important. I view fashion as art, and it is something that I am very passionate about. I know that it is a very exclusive industry from designers to models. As a business major, accounting specifically, my dream is to one day be able to work for a designer clothing company and go to a real fashion show!
These eight pictures have served as a short preview into my life and I am proud to share it with my fellow classmates!
