All about Steve-O

Hello all, I decided to create a ten song musical playlist on Spotify for Blog Post One. I am going to split this into two paragraphs because the first five songs are what influenced me to start listening to a lot of music and the last five I discovered on my own throughout the years of listening to music everyday.

The first five songs I chose are ones most of us have heard of. A majority of our parents grew up listening to classic rock because of the time period they were born in. Music is huge throughout my entire family. My parents inspired me to have a taste of what they grew up with. Every Sunday when I was younger until today, my Dad would play the stereo on full blast from afternoon until night. I say my Dad and not my Mom because she had a little different taste in music, but none the less no one would complain. The Likes of the Doobie Brothers, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, and Kiss flowed through my ear drums. As a kid, I would jump around the living room dancing like a maniac. The problem was this would only happen on Sundays because both of my parents worked, and they were too tired after work to start listening to music. The music we listened to would be too energetic to play after a long, tiring, work filled day.  This is when I was determined to get a stereo system in my room. I will never forget the day that happened. My Dad bought himself a new stereo, thus I got his old monster set in my room which would not only play CD’s and Cassettes but also vinyl records. I like to call this the beginning of a beautiful relationship with music because I could listen to it whenever I wanted. I could even ask my parents to get me my own CD’s that my Dad did not have available.

The last five songs I chose I discovered on my own. As I grew older, I would continue to listen to the classics but enjoyed listening to anything that sounded good. I will listen to any genre except Country. Thankfully, the majority of people I have become friends with enjoy the same beats. A typical weekend for me and my friends would be to cruise around with the windows down listening to music on our way to no destination in particular.  Music has made me enjoy the little things in life. I have learned that I can be happy doing anything as long as I have my music with me. Till the day that I die, I will never stop listening to music. It has had too much of an impact on me to just not be there anymore.

Who’s Abdulah?

Hey LC 09! I decided to make a slideshow for you guys with the people, places and things that mean the most to me.

I’m an Aquarius. I was born on February 9, 1996. My father and mother were immigrants from Montenegro, a state of the former Yugoslavia, but now they both are citizens of the United States. Their struggle and ambition to succeed and create opportunities from nothing is what motivates me everyday in life. My father, a hard-worker, is a great individual who influenced strength and loyalty as a part of my personality as I was young child. My mother plays as a coach to my life to this day. Intelligence, kindness, sensitivity, and most of the things that I have learned are through her experience and knowledge. My parents helped set the foundation for me as an individual in order to become the person I am today. My siblings and friends are the greatest young group of kids to be around. My sister is my backbone and support. Whatever I choose to do, I can count on her to cheer me on through everything. My little brother is the man! If you want to see a younger version of me, he is that guy. I can have a conversation with my brother that varies from sports to politics and nerdy stuff. We even engage in the same sports and other activities. My other “brothers” are one of the closest group of friends that I have because they have my back with anything and everything. Our relationship with one another is very unique because not only have we known each other for a long time, but also it works both ways with love, strength and humor. Whenever we hang out, it’s never a dull moment. They showed me the greatest things about life and how it isn’t always about serious stuff and making a lot of money. Life is valuable through achieving happiness, and with my parents, siblings, and “brothers” I feel as though they lighten up my life to a whole new level.

If you know me well enough you will know that I am into cars and sports more than anything else. Mercedes-Benz has always been an obsession of mine growing up. When my father purchased a Mercedes-Benz GL350 in 2010, it stimulated my obsession even more. Like, “wow we have a Mercedes-Benz now.” It was amazing! Now my father bought me a Mercedes-Benz ML350 in April, 2014. That was the greatest day of my life so far! Going to the dealership and having the people at Silver Star Motors already know who I was, then being escorted to see my car, and finally driving it home. It was a good day to be, I guess. Although I have an amazing car, that I am immensely grateful for, I feel that my obsession can’t ever be satisfied. My dream car is a Mercedes-Benz CLS550. However, by dream car I don’t look at that as a finish line. The day I purchase a CLS550 is only a checkpoint to greater and better things. I set myself goals that I hopefully will achieve one day, and one of them is purchasing the CLS550. Basketball has been influential to my health because I was a fat child growing up. The love of the game developed over time through constant practice and the will to get better as a player. During my high school years, I was part of my varsity team and became captain during my senior year. The basketball team was a family. We traveled everywhere together, shared great moments of victory and hard times of losses as a unite and continued to fight on. We achieved many great things during the regular season as a team and I wouldn’t trade my teammates for anyone else. Every season had it’s own story with these guys, and I cherished every single one of it. Although it may sound cliche, being part of the basketball team really taught me to be unselfish and look out for the well-being of others. We had a common goal to win and that stayed as our goal throughout the games, practice and meetings. Basketball always has and always will be a part of me.

Two places that are the most sentimental for me are Montenegro and New York City. These two different areas in the world influenced me incredibly to become very diverse, cultural, and open-minded as an individual. I travel to Montenegro every summer for 1-2 months and have lived in New York City since day one. The amazing part of traveling and visiting another country is the idea and experience that there is a world that exists outside of the streets of NYC. My family in Montenegro lives mostly in the farmland areas, so spending time in places that are the complete opposite to that of New York City is truly impacting on the way I view society as a whole and understand the lives of others who are not as fortunate as I am. Every person, place, and thing in my life influenced me to be a humble individual.

Who Is Brianna ?

Hello LC 09, I chose to do the picture slideshow to show you guys a little bit about who I am. For most of my characteristics I couldn’t chose one picture, so I made collages.

First, I think I am a hardworking student; I put 3 pictures of all of the schools I have been to in my life. I have went to catholic school my whole life, Baruch is the first public school I have been to. My next slide has pictures of the transportation methods I use everyday to get to Baruch, because I am a commuter. The worst part of my computer by far is the Q38, which comes every 25-30 minutes, and if you take the bus really early the bus usually passes you up because it is jam-packed. My next slide has pictures of my parents and I throughout the years. I am the proud daughter of the two most wonderful people on the face of this earth. My parents have worked so hard their whole lives to give me the best life I could ever imagine. I have a very special relationship with my parents, because I am an only child. My mom is my best friend, we tell each other everything, and I don’t know what I’d do without her. My dad is my partner in crime, and we joke around 24/7. My next slide has a collection of pictures of my job and people at my job. I am a bookkeeper at Met Food supermarket on Eliot Avenue in Middle Village. I have made so many friends there, that I couldn’t imagine my life without. I consider myself a hard worker, even though some of the pictures of my co-workers and myself are of us joking around at work. I have been there for two and a half years now, and I think of myself as a vital asset to Met Food. My next slide has a collage of pictures of one of the most important people in my life, my boyfriend Phil. I am a very loving, caring, and loyal person. We will be dating 3 years on September 23rd. We do everything together, and he is practically a part of my family already. My next slide has pictures of my dog, Zac. I am the proud owner of a 5-year-old cavachon (half Bichon Frise half King Charles Cavalier). My parents bought him for me, and he traveled all the way from a breeder in Arizona to get to me. I play with Zac everyday, and I think of him as a little brother, since I don’t have any siblings. Even though Zac was supposed to be my dog, he grew a special attachment to my mom. My next slide is a collage of pictures of my two best friends and I. My best friends names are Sabreena and Kimberly. I have known Kimberly since we were in nursery school, we became close in high school though. This is the first school I am going to without her, she goes to Florida Southern College. I met Sabreena my first day at Molloy and it was as if we knew each other our whole life. She goes to Adelphi University, so I still get to see her whenever we have time in between work and school. I talk to them both daily and think of them as my sisters. My last slide is probably the most important to me, my family. I am a very family oriented person and speak to my family members everyday. I am very close to everyone in my family, I only put pictures of some members of my family, because I have a very big Italian family and there was no way I could have included everyone.

Thank you for reading and watching LC 09, I can’t wait to learn more about each and every one of you.
