On Thursday I attended the general meeting of the Accounting Society Club. While I am undecided, I thought it would be interesting to attend a club in a potential major. When i entered into the room, everyone from the club were very friendly and had pizza and cookies laid out for potential club members. They started off with a picture game, which lasted around half the time we were there, and then the club president had a slideshow presentation about what the club offered and what the members could sign up to be (such as participating in little subcommittees). Joining this club, me and many other member will be able to meet potential big business that would maybe lead on to an internship and even potentially a job offer at their firms. They talked about every possibility available such as meeting with big corporations, having a group resume writing session, mock interview sessions and much more. This club also focuses on giving back to the community, not just focusing on the career, through charitable walks and donating to different organizations. Members have said that companies actually look and are interested in those who give back to the community. This club seems to be very interesting in the fact they focus in not only the career path, but also in giving back to the community. Each member seemed eager for you to join their subcommittees and even talked about stepping up into getting a larger role for the club. They all seemed very happy to be apart of the club and encouraged everyone to feel the same way. Everyone seemed very genuine and willing to answer every and all questions anyone had. Even though, this club didn’t seem like a fit for me, there were hundreds of more possible suitors for this club!
