Actuarial Resume and Interview Workshop
On last Thursday, Oct 26, I attended a workshop teach me how to do well on a resume and how to prepare for an interview. If I have any resume, interview questions, there are always president , vice president or some club members helping me and share their past experience to me. This workshop provides me a chance how to improve mistakes while writing a resume and how to well prepare before an interview. When we writing our resume, we need to be careful on the organization and format , be sure to include your college, GPA, job experience ( job position, duration, location,), leadership activities, volunteer experience, and some skills you have. The representative compare us with a good and bad resume, how to get a higher chance acceptance for companies while looking at our resume. Resumes should be written in either the past or present tense and avoid the “ing” words, be using some bullets to explain what your skill, job position, what role you play. Resume is only one page long, be sure demonstrate the best skills that you want to present, and check for your grammar. Resume is a way to demonstrates someone your skill, if you have any trouble writing your resume, you can go to Starr Career Center ask them for help, then go to writing center check your grammar mistakes, then if you want your resume have valuable skill in actuarial field, the president , vice president or some club members willing to help you. During the interview, it is important for students well prepare doing some research before the interview, learning their company history, values, and interest; dress professionally, be arrive 15 to 20 minutes early, be polite and shake hands with them. Additionally, you need to ask for a business card at the end of the interview and sent them a thank you card for outstanding. This workshop is extremely helpful, I learn a lot about how to write a resume and prepare an interview.
