Cover Letter Workshop

I originally did not know much about the purpose of a cover letter.  All I really was aware of was that it was to be placed on top of a resume.  STARR’s workshop helped me better understand not only what a cover letter is, but how to properly write one.  While a resume sums up a person through skills and experiences, a cover letter functions to quickly show the employer what they may find in the resume.  It is important to use action words and transferable skills while describing oneself in the cover letter to paint an image of why the individual applying is qualified for the position.
