The museum is exactly what I expected it to be… boring. Art is just not something that speaks to me. The first thing I noticed were a group of people staring at a stack of bricks. They looked so interested and I just did not see the art in that. The visit got even weirder when I came across a gallery of naked women. I did not want to go any further into the museum after this so I decided to observe this gallery. At this point I was starving and annoyed after leaving my least favorite class, the library class, and I was a little angry that we did not get in for free even though we were students. Whatever. Anyway, I was looking at the drawing of a naked woman with no head and I did not understand it at all until, thankfully, I saw the description that was on the side. The drawing was labeled “Alone and Together.” The artist is Louise Bourgeois, who portrays the human body in her artwork and it is meant to represent the body’s transformations, needs, wants, feels and functions. After staring at this picture for a little, I still did not see any of the meaning. I realized that art is hopeless for me and decided to leave. On my way to the lobby however, I came across a model of a newly renovated MoMA. This was the most interesting piece of art I have seen in the 15 minutes of being there. Even if it wasn’t technically art, to me it was. I was always interested in architecture designs, I just think they’re really awesome. Due to the little amount of time we had to view the museum, we only visited one gallery. I was aware that there are very famous paintings within the museum such as artwork from van Gogh and Monet that are worth millions of dollars, but we had to leave to be on time for English class. This was an interesting experience for me, however, it is not somewhere I would go if I had free time.
