Last week I went to the opening ceremony of Latinx Heritage Month. The event was held on the second floor of the Newman Vertical Campus. At the event, several clubs such as the Latin American Student Organization were promoting and explaining the event and what is done in their clubs. The ceremony contained music and a dance floor where students also participated in games. There was also food being served based off of the many diverse sectors of Latin America. Since the ceremony lasts for a whole month, I am hoping to attend the Nuestra Belleza pageant to learn more about Latin traditions, explore fashion derived from Latin America, and enjoy all that the event has to offer for students to either embrace or be more informed about Latin American culture.
