My first three months has been interesting. Feels really good to be a college student in all honesty and the hype about the diversity you will encounter in college was proven to not be an exaggeration to me. Since I have started as a freshman in Baruch, I have learned a great deal of things whether it be educational wise or personally. For instance, educationally I have learned plenty more concerning world history and the cultures of many different groups, as well as art history. In addition my mathematics knowledge has been increased as well. Personally I have learned more about responsibility, professionalism, and dedication. My personal growth has dealt with the work load of college and the need to submit assignments on or ahead of time. Also the orientation class has really helped on integrate me into the school easily. When coming into a new school, as a new face, you tend to be quiet and keep to yourself. No one really makes an attempt to make friends; no one takes the initiative to really start a conversation. This is partly due to that awkward moment people seek to avoid. However there are those who are more outspoken than others and easier for them to integrate into the school body. I am the type to keep to myself; however the orientation class has helped me make new friends/ meet new people. For example, the ice breaker techniques, as awkward as it made us all feel in the beginning, eventually became something to look forward too, and were fun. I currently have two good friends within the school from differing backgrounds from that of mine. It is nice to know things from their background as well, because it is very informational and somewhat differs from what is taught in school.
