LGBTQ EDUCATION, GENDER IDEOLOGY AND THE NEW FAR RIGHT IN BRAZIL
February 27, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Jair Bolsonaro won the Brazilian presidency in 2018 in part by mobilizing conservative opposition to policies to combat lgbtqphobia and promote gender equality instituted by Workers Party administrations. This presentation will map and contextualize political disputes around sexual and gender diversity education, linking these to movements for democratic enlargement and conservative restoration in the last two decades.
