March 2, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Please join us for keynote remarks by Toomas Ilves, former President of Estonia, followed by a panel discussion with Timothy Frye, Marshall D. Shulman Professor of Post-Soviet Foreign Policy, Columbia University; Kimberly Marten, Ann Whitney Olin Professor of Political Science, Barnard College; Jason Healey, Senior Research Scholar, Columbia SIPA. Moderated by Merit E. Janow, Dean, SIPA and Professor of Practice in International Economic Law and International Affairs.

Cosponsored by SIPA, the Harriman Institute, and the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies

In January 2017 the U.S. Intelligence community released a declassified report to Congress assessing that Russia sought to influence the 2016 U.S. elections, including through covert cyber operations. As the Trump administration attempts to reset relations with Russia, how will cyber security concerns factor into its calculations? What viable options exist to address adverse activity in the cyber domain? What does the future hold for broader US-Russia relations and those across the region?
