Li Bo
Li Bo (or Li Bai) was one of the most famous poets of the Tang Dynasty. He was from a poor family but would travel from city to city and write poetry hoping to gain the attention of the royal family. After gaining the attention of Emperor Xanzuang, he was appointed the chancellor of the Hallin Academy. He wanted to be free and write about nature, popular culture, and other religions. He never had the opportunity to write about these things as chancellor because he ended up being imprisoned and banished (the prince he worked for was planning a revolution so the emperor banished anyone associated with him). Li Bo spent the rest of his days drinking wine and writing poems. He was a considered a romantic and that was evident in his poems about friendship, nature, time, and of course the pleasures of drinking. Along with Du Fu, he is regarded as one of the greatest poets of the time.
