Wang Wei- Man of Many Trades

 

Living within the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Wang was a famous figure in literature and the arts. He is known to have composed over 300 poems throughout his life, which were collected and published through General Wang’s Anthology. His brother was a high ranking military official (Chancellor to the Emperor), which enabled him to escape some slippery situations. At one point, he was accused of being a traitor due to his position within a rebel army; however he was captured by them during the An-Shi Rebellion (755). Wang Wei grew up in a well to due family because of its position in the aristocracy. One of his most famous poems is “One-Hearted”. Wang Wei was known for painting, poetry, music and civil service. He has spent some time in government positions early in his live. Records show that Wang Wei lived to be about 60 Years of age.
