Spring 2011 Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence Writing Competition

The Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence Program will be awarding three prizes for CREATIVE NONFICTION this semester. All students who are enrolled in English and Journalism/Creative Writing courses are encouraged to apply as are contributors to Encounters, The Ticker and Dollars & $en$e.

All submissions will be judged by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, the Spring 2011 Harman Writer-in-Residence.  Each submission must be marked clearly as a competition entry, with the following information on a separate cover page: name, social security number, telephone, home address and email.  Do not include any identifying information on the text pages of your entry. The work must be unpublished and not longer than 1,000 words.

DEADLINE:
All entries must be submitted in hard copy to Professor Roslyn Bernstein by noon on Tuesday, April 12th (mailbox is on the 7th floor VC, Journalism Department).
– First Prize: $500
– Second Prize: $300
– Third Prize: $200

Winning entries may be published in Encounters, or on the Harman Writer-in-Residence website: www.baruch.cuny.edu/wsas/harman. Winners will be asked to provide the editors of Encounters with a digital copy of their work if the articles are to be included in the magazine ([email protected] ).
