Summer 2012 Study Abroad in China

Tentative Trip Dates: May 31, 2012 – June 27, 2012

Four-week program to five famous Chinese cities:
–          Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, Suzhou/Hangzhou & Shanghai
–          With side trips to Hong Kong, Tibet, Guilin, Sanya (Oriental Hawaii) & Yellow Mountain

Students may choose 1-2 courses from the following:
1.  BUSN 3175: Asian Business
2.  CORC 3206 (Core Curriculum): Development of the Silk Road
3.  CORC 1110 (Core Curriculum): Classical Cultures (China)
4.  CHIN 1010: Beginners Chinese
5.  CHIN 1020: Intermediate Chinese
6.  HIST 3534: Revolutionary China
7.  SPEC 1619: Intercultural Communication
8.  SPEC 2623: Business & Professional Communication (Cross-Cultural Perspectives)

Program Features:
1.  All courses are taught by Brooklyn College faculty, for CUNY-BC credit.
2.  Group travel to 5 most famous and beautiful Chinese cities: Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, Suzhou & Shanghai.
3.  Field trips to sites of historical and cultural importance (e.g., TianAnMen Square, the Great Wall, Imperial Palace, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Terra Cotta Warriors, Ancient City Walls, Buddhist Temples, Jewish Synagogue, Great Mosques, Suzhou Gardens, Silk Factory, Cloisonné Factory, the Bund, Shanghai Pudong Financial District and China’s Wall Street, etc.)
4.  Experience Chinese culture, interact with local people, have a real feel of Chinese life
5.  Travel and sightseeing are arranged by professional travel agencies
6.  Side trips to Hong Kong, Guilin, Sanya (Oriental Hawaii), Yellow Mountain or Tibet

Total Estimated Program Cost: only $3,150, which includes:
A.   round-trip international tickets (NYC to Beijing; Shanghai to NYC)
B.   transportation within and between the Chinese cities
C.   nice hotels in all the cities in China
D.   admission tickets to the scenic spots

Eligibility:
1.   CUNY undergraduate and graduate, and
2.   Students from any other colleges in the U.S.

STOCS scholarships and financial aid are available for qualified students.
