NSF CREST REU Scholarship

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Satellite and Ground-Based Remote Sensing at the Cooperative Remote Sensing Science and Technology (CREST) Center

CREST-REU is a National Science Foundation sponsored research opportunity for City University of New York (CUNY) undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate education in CREST related Sciences. The goal of CREST REU is to encourage students to pursue careers in research by exposing them to research at the undergraduate level and encouraging them to obtain masters and PhD degrees. As a CREST-REU scholar students will receive hands-on research exposure under the mentorship of a CREST faculty member. The experience will prepare students for advanced studies in Remote Sensing Sciences.

Eligibility/Requirements:

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • GPA 3.0 and above
  • Matriculated Student (Junior and Senior) at any CUNY campuses

Fellowship Package & Duration (15 Weeks/Academic Year):

  • $2,400 for Fall and Spring
  • $3,600 for Summer
  • $Summer – 9 weeks (Mid June to Mid August)
  • Academic Year (3 weeks in fall & 3 weeks in spring)

Benefits as CREST-REU Scholars:

  • Work at CREST facilities with CREST Research Faculty members
  • Participate in Seminars and Conferences
  • Exposure to professional career opportunities at NOAA and/or other Federal, State and Local Agencies, Academia and Industries alike.

Application deadline extended through April 19, 2012

Complete the application online and then send us ([email protected]) first a scanned copy of the following: two letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and an essay (no more than 500 words) telling us about yourself and why you would like to be an NSF CREST REU scholar. Second, please mail the original copies of the above documents to:
