New CUNY Fellowship for Astronomy research

October 15, 2012 By CChala

Dear students and colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the availability of a new fellowship program to support CUNY undergrads interested in being involved in Astronomy research. AstroCom NYC is a long-term mentoring program designed to train students in research, support their pursuit of a career in science, and to increase diversity in the sciences. Students will be paired with both a career mentor and a research mentor from the CUNY Astro group, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Astrophysics Dept., or the Columbia University Astronomy Dept. Students will also participate in a research skills class at AMNH and in a seminar focused on support for attendance at research colloquia in the Astronomy Department at Columbia.

The application is now open at http://www.CUNYastro.org/astrocom.html. Please inform any and all interested students; underrepresented minorities, women, freshman, sophomores, and 2-yr college students are especially encouraged to apply.  Deadline is Nov 15 for activities beginning in Spring 2013.
