The Jeanette K. Watson Fellowship provides internships, mentoring, and enriched
educational opportunities to promising New York City undergraduates.
Eligibility
Eligible students are second semester freshman or sophomores who are full-time students registered in a liberal arts track. All applicants must be American citizens or “green card” holders, and may not be more than 25 years old on March 1, 2013. As this is a competitive application, the academic standing of each student is a major consideration. It is, therefore, recommended that students have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
The Fellowship
The fellowship consists of three paid summer internships. Students are encouraged to take the third summer internship overseas. Each of the internships last 10 weeks and students will work in non-profit, government, and private enterprise. Summer programs include cultural activities in New York, and workshops with civic and business leaders.
The Commitment
Watson Fellows are expected to make a commitment to three summers, including some weekends and evenings. Four seminars are held on Saturdays during the semester. Fellows will not be able to accept employment during this time.
Finalists
Four finalists will be chosen from Baruch to compete with students from 12 local colleges. In the final selection, fifteen students are selected to be JK Watson Fellows.
The Application Process
Submit your application to the Baruch College Honors Program. The application consists of:
- Application, including two essays and two letters of recommendation
