The Equality Federation Institute is in the sixth year of its Summer Internship Program. Since 2008, the Federation Institute has placed young people in positions at our member organizations to do engaging and important projects to further LGBT equality. The internship provides a stipend of $3,000 for a ten-week period, during which the interns work with active state-wide LGBT advocacy organizations, participate in six online training and discussion seminars with experienced LGBT leaders, and develop their leadership skills. At the end, the Federation Institute brings the interns to our annual conference, the Summer Meeting, where they present their summer projects, meet other interns, and network with state and national leaders.
This is a great opportunity for people at the beginning of their careers. They get a chance to see what advocacy campaigns look like from the inside, to do more than stuff envelopes and answer phones, to build the skills and connections that will help them, no matter what career paths they choose. We’re looking for smart and passionate people who can work independently, collaborate, and are committed to equality.
We would be grateful if you could help us find great interns for 2013 by posting the accompanying documents and passing the word through your networks. The deadline for applications is March 18, 2013.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the program or Equality Federation Institute’s work at [email protected]
