Reminder!
On Tuesday, March 19th, Hilton Als, the Writer-In-Residence for Spring 2013, will be giving A Reading and Conversation. This unique event is a chance to get an up-close-and-personal view into the writings of the renowned theater critic and staff writer for The New Yorker. His works encompass an array of themes on gender, race and personal identity.
Hilton Als has written articles for The Nation and has collaborated on film scripts for Swoon and Looking For Langston. His first book, The Women, was published in 1996. In 1997, the New York Association of Black Journalists awarded Als first prize in both Magazine Critique/Review and Magazine Arts and Entertainment. He was awarded a Guggenheim for Creative Writing in 2000 and the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism for 2002-2003. His most recent book, White Girls, will be published later this year.
A Reading and Conversation with Hilton Als will take place in Room 750, the Asriel and Marie Rackow Conference Room in the 151 East 25th Street library building. The reception begins at 5:00 PM, followed by the reading at 5:45 PM. At the end of the reading, guests will have the chance to ask questions and have their books signed. You are welcome to spread the word and bring your colleagues. This is a special event and seats are limited, so register early!
I have attached a selection of articles and stories written by Als. Stop by 7-270 for printed copies and more.
