New York Needs You (NYNY) / Apply to be a Fellow

February 11, 2014 By lmaestro

Reminder!!!

NYNY can help you answer the BIG question: WHAT WILL I DO AFTER COLLEGE and HOW WILL I GET THERE?

With nine days left in the application cycle, I encourage you to apply to New York Needs You (NYNY). Don’t miss out the opportunity to receive $2,500 in Professional Development Grants, a Personal Mentor Coach, and Career Workshops that give you the skills and network to succeed!

APPLY TODAY: http://www.newyorkneedsyou.org/index.php?apply

(The application is open to all CUNY freshmen who are first-generation college students and qualify as low-income.) I look forward to working with you as you pursue this opportunity.

Tips/FAQs on Applications

  • Transcripts: NYNY accept unofficial transcripts.
  • Recommendation letter: These should be submitted online. Recommenders receive a link from students and students can check if letters have been submitted on the online application system (WizeHive).
  • Essays: NYNY recommends students write this first in a word processing software and consider getting help from Fellow Ambassadors or the writing center. NYNYs look for students who answer the question, and submit error-free work. For students who have trouble thinking about a challenge, please know the question is mostly about one’s understanding of and approach to the challenge, not the specifics of the challenge.
  • Difficulty finishing the application: Students should reach out to NYNY staff early if they are experiencing challenges.
