The Katzen Fellowship for the Common Good 

$3000 Stipend for Unpaid Internships/Formal Volunteer Positions

We are pleased to announce that, through The Katzen-Laufer Family, we have 13 $3000 Stipends for Weissman Arts & Sciences and School of Public Affairs students who work in unpaid internships and/or formal volunteer positions in a non-profit including the arts, education, government or other non-profit organization. The Katzen Fellowship for the Common Good recipients will be selected without discrimination and on the basis of the student’s genuine possibility for personal growth and potential for future contributions to “the common good.” Preference will be given to students not otherwise receiving on-going scholarship assistance. Decisions regarding the fellowship will be made within 2 weeks of the application deadline; be available for an in-person interview during those 2 weeks.

  • Recipients are required to complete at least 230 hours of work during the Spring 2015 Semester (a minimum of 14 hours per week/ maximum 35 hours per week)
  • The stipend will be paid upon completion of the internship/volunteer work, during the Spring academic year, upon the student returning a satisfactory Employer/Supervisor Evaluation.
  • To receive the stipend funds during the spring 2015 semester, all documents must be received one week before the end of the spring semester, otherwise disbursement will occur fall 2015.

The student is required to do the following in order to qualify:

  • Have completed at least 45 credits
  • Complete & return application, written statements and Validation of Position Form to Dr. Heyman, Room 2-150 or by Email [email protected]

          Subject heading: Katzen Fellowship

  • Meet minimum GPA approximately 3.0 (attach CUNY First transcript)
  • Provide 2 Letters of Recommendation from two character references (Professors/Teachers/Advisors/Mentors and/or Employers )
  • Give Evaluation Forms to your potential site supervisor

Students that complete the online application (www.baruch.cuny.edu/careers) must also submit additional documentation (transcript, recommendations, and validation of position) to Dr. Heyman at [email protected] or at room NVC2-150.

IN PERSON
Physical applications can be picked up at the STARR Career Development Center, room NVC2-150. Complete and return application with additional documents (transcript, recommendations, and validation of position) to Dr. Heyman at [email protected] or at room NVC2-150.

  • The forms will also be available after the first week of January for download from our website www.Baruch.cuny.edu/careers
