Research Assistant at CUNY Graduate Center, Psychology Department

Summer 2015 Opportunity

Deadline: June 1, 2015

Overview:

A doctoral student who is working on her dissertation at the CUNY Graduate Center, Psychology Department is looking for some research assistance. Psychology students who are interested in gaining some experience over the summer are encouraged to apply . A description of the project is listed below.

Project will involve:

  • Research about the appointment of CEOs to Fortune 500 companies.
  • Content analyzation of media articles in order to investigate public perceptions concerning these appointments.

Research Assistant duties:

  • Read media articles describing the appointment of specific CEOs and carefully code these articles following very specific instructions.
  • All of the coding can be done by computer, in any location that the coder chooses.

Project Training:

  • Research Assistants will first meet with the coders for a training and orientation.
  • Several mandatory meetings to check-in
  • The primary investigator (a doctoral student in I/O psychology) will meet with the coders several times over the summer.
  • Meetings will discuss the coding that has been done so far, and deal with any outstanding issues.
  • A schedule of timelines with the coders.
