U.S. Student Fulbright Teaching English Assistantships

Deadline: Wednesday September 16, 2015

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) program fosters mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries by providing a native speaker presence in foreign classrooms. Fulbright ETAs can select from around 70 countries worldwide. Fulbright ETAs assist in strengthening English language instruction overseas, as well as providing cultural insights in the classroom. In addition to their classroom responsibilities, Fulbright ETAs may also give presentations on topics related to the United States (culture, society, and history), lead programs in language labs, conduct English conversation clubs, tutor, participate in sports, language and drama clubs, conduct supplementary research/study projects, and volunteer at local organizations.
Fulbright ETA participants are native English speakers representing all educational backgrounds and are not required to be English teachers. Participants are enthusiastic about cultural exchange and in creating a native speaker presence in foreign classrooms.

Fulbright ETA participants receive funding for roundtrip international transportation, health insurance coverage and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses. Applicants for English Teaching Assistant Programs can apply to only one country.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be US Citizens.
  • Applicants must have a conferred bachelor’s degree or the equivalent before the start of the grant. (Rising seniors welcome to apply)
  • Some proficiency in the language of the ETA host country may be necessary, and varies by country.
  • Applicants currently enrolled at Baruch must apply through Baruch’s Fulbright Program Advisor, Valeria Hymas (details below)

More information and instructions on how to apply are available at: http://www.us.fulbrightonline.org/

2016/17 U.S. Fulbright Program Baruch College Campus Deadline is: Wednesday September 16, 2015.

Please contact Baruch’s Fulbright Program Advisor, Valeria Hymas at [email protected] for information about the campus review process as well as application guidance and advice.
