U.S. Student Fulbright Award to Mexico, Binational Business Internships
———————

Application Deadline: Wednesday September 16, 2015

The U.S.-Mexico Commission for Educational Exchange (COMEXUS) provides funding for 13 Binational Business Internships to enhance knowledge, expertise, and understanding of post-NAFTA Mexico. The awards are available for students interested in combining coursework in international business or law with an internship at a Mexico-based company conducting international or legal business.

Preference is for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree, or who are in graduate study, in the following fields: business administration, finance, economics, international relations, engineering, law/international law, accounting, or another business-related field. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in other fields, with demonstrated experience and interest in business, may also be considered. Work and/or internship experience, especially for graduating seniors or recent graduates, is also preferred.

Following final selection, COMEXUS will arrange the internship placement of grantees through a trilateral matching process involving participating companies, grantees, and the Commission. Grantees will enroll in courses at Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM).

In the last two years, COMEXUS has placed grantees in the following companies: Ashoka, Scotiabank, Endeavor, Asociación Mexicana para las Naciones Unidas, Angel Ventures, Grupo BAL and Volaris among others. While the majority of placements are with for-profit companies, each year there are usually opportunities to work in the non-profit sector, as well.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be US Citizens.
  • Applicants must have a conferred bachelor’s degree or the equivalent before the start of the grant.
  • Proficiency in Spanish equal to 3 years of college-level Spanish language study, or the equivalent, prior to commencing the grant.
  • Applicants currently enrolled at Baruch must apply through Baruch’s Fulbright Program Advisor, Valeria Hymas (details below)
