VH1 Save the Music Fall Semester Internship Opportunity

August 28, 2015 By cgreene

VH1 Save the Music Foundation is currently looking for outstanding students to fulfill their Fall Semester internship position. If you are interested, send your resume and cover letter to Samantha Manus or Aliyah Alli. Please write in the subject line: VH1 Save the Music Foundation Intern and specify the semester for which you are applying.

Description:

The VH1 Save the Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music in America’s public schools and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of a complete education. The Foundation grants instrumental packages to public elementary and middle schools, which do not have existing instrumental music programs, around the nation. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation internship is a non-paid, hands-on opportunity in New York City to learn about the operations and work of a non-profit organization and to develop skills transferrable to range of work.

Interns will receive long-term and short-term projects and will learn to independently manage their time, work, and deadlines. Both the Program and Development teams will give interns projects; this will expose them to the full range of the Foundation’s operations and efforts. The work environment here is fast-paced and requires multi-tasking capabilities as interns are treated as part of the team.
The Program team works with music teachers, principals, school administrators, school district personnel, superintendents, and local arts organizations to ensure all students in a district have equal access to instrumental music education. The Development team raises funds (via individual donors, foundations, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events) to make this possible.

Requirements:

YOU MUST RECEIVE COLLEGE CREDIT TO APPLY FOR THIS INTERNSHIP. Rising or current juniors/seniors and are majoring in music, music education, music business, marketing and/or public affairs who are interested in non-profit organizations and/or special events are encouraged to apply.
