BILINGUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – RESEARCH/HEALTHCARE/PSYCHOLOGY
NYU School of Medicine: Bellevue Hospital Center / Woodhull Medical Center

The Bellevue Project for Early Language, Literacy, and Education Success (BELLE Project) in the
Department of Pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital Center is
a team that examines parenting interventions designed to improve child development
outcomes in at‐risk populations. We are currently looking for English/Spanish bilingual
volunteers to work with our teams at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan and Woodhull
Medical Center in Brooklyn.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are looking to be involved in research. A fullsemester
commitment is required, and a two‐semester commitment or longer is preferred.

Responsibilities may include: administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and videotape
copying; scheduling and tracking of participants; video coding; transcribing; assistance with
other operational aspects of study.

For the right individual, there may be future opportunities for an increase in responsibilities,
including recruitment and data collection with families and participants.

Candidates must:

  • Have some background in psychology, child development, education, medicine/premedicine,
public health, or other related field
  • Have computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Be comfortable in a collaborative environment, yet able to work independently
  • Be extremely detail‐oriented and organized
  • Be able to work responsibly and competently with sensitive patient information

Notes about this opportunity:

  • A minimum commitment of 8 hours per week for a full semester required (hours must
be completed on weekdays between 9 and 5 required for first semester)
  • You will primarily be based at either Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan or at
Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Please indicate your location preference in
your application, and note that you may be expected to occasionally visit the other site.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required

If interested, please e‐mail your resume or CV to Dr. Anne Seery at [email protected].
Please include “BELLE volunteering” in the subject line.
