Curriculum
The Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows program offers a dynamic and stimulating leadership curriculum that encourages students to examine personal strengths, challenges, and taking action as a leader. Each week Fellows will explore examples of George Washington’s leadership while applying it to relevant ideas and issues today. Fellows will regularly meet with top leaders, engage with the other Fellows on leadership styles and skills, meet with mentors on their individual capstone projects, and ultimately, consider what leadership truly means.
Capstone Project
Leadership isn’t just about ideas – it’s about taking action. During the program, Fellows will work on creating an action plan in their individual cause areas to implement in their home communities. This is a program for student leaders across fields. Past capstone projects have focused on everything from education reform, environmental sustainability, nutrition, and youth empowerment.
Pursuing a cause is a challenge, but students won’t have to do it alone. In addition to the support of the full Mount Vernon community, we pair Fellows with a mentor in their specific field of interest to help guide and connect them with a larger professional network. For more information on past mentors and capstone projects, please visit our website: www.mountvernon.org/fellows
