ATTENTION STUDENTS! LITERARY JOB OPPORTUNITY!

Want to meet distinguished writers?

Are you self-motivated? Are you good at marketing? Do you write well?

The Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence Program is seeking a new Assistant, to begin Fall 2016. The esteemed Program brings a different distinguished poet, novelist, journalist, playwright and/or critic to campus each semester to teach a course, and do a College-wide reading.

The Harman Assistant will work closely with the Harman Director to both plan Program events and assist guest writers.

He or she must possess strong writing, communication, interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills. The Harman Assistant will be responsible for all aspects of the program’s marketing and promotion, which includes creating and disseminating flyers, a monthly newsletter, press releases, e-blasts, mailings, correspondence, social media updates, and website content. Proficiency in Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.

Hourly salary is $13. A commitment of at least 10-12 hours per week is required. Ideally, the Assistant would keep the position for 3-6 semesters.

Stevie Borrello, Class of ’16, has been the Harman Program Assistant for two years. She says, “Not only has it been a great experience working with Prof. Davis, who is always supportive and motivating me to do my best, but I have been able to apply so many of the skills I’ve learned on this job to other internships in my field of journalism. Working with the Harman Program has been an irreplaceable opportunity for me.”

If you’re interested, please contact Prof. Bridgett Davis ASAP @ [email protected].

Paid training for the position begins this semester.
