Valeria (Valerie) joined Baruch College in January 2013 as the Post-Graduate and National Fellowships Advisor under the auspices of the Honors Program. Valerie was responsible for the management of the Fulbright exchange program for US Student awards as Senior Program Manager for Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia. Valerie then went on to become the Director of Fellowships and Grants at The American-Scandinavian Foundation where she oversaw an annual academic and cultural exchange program between the U.S. and the Nordic countries. At the ASF and Fulbright, she also managed faculty fellowship programs.
Valerie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in International & Intercultural Communication from the University of Denver. After completing her MA, Valerie’s interests in intercultural communication and education took her abroad. In London she began working as an educational advisor with the Educational Advisory Service and then went on to become Program Director with the US-UK Fulbright Commission. This experience opened doors for Valerie to take a position with the Institute of International Education in New York. Valerie has a vision of a better world, a commitment to making it happen, and a deep sense that knowledge is a sacred part of this better world.
