Nesrine on Vince

The people I work with are diverse, and they teach me a lot. I was promoted twice in three years, so they recognize and appreciate hard work. The culture is respectful, and they invest in new talent and assets within the company.

Nesrine’s Current Role

My current role involves managing all inbound logistics and supply chain operations for our cargo. I focus on the transportation from factories in Asia and South America to our warehouses both for air and ocean consolidations. I handle invoicing and communicate with factories and vendors, managing suppliers in locations like Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Vietnam.

Nesrine’s Journey

Post-grad, I moved to LA, California. I applied to different positions from business development to logistics and trade compliance. I ended up working for Vince, a luxury clothing brand. I started as a logistics coordinator, and that turned into different positions over the years. Next year, I’ll be completing four years with Vince. I’ve been promoted twice, so I’ve held a few different roles within the company. I started as a logistics coordinator and worked on the operations team, so it’s broader than just logistics or supply chain. I was then promoted to global supply chain coordinator, where I manage the movement of cargo, make bookings for the company, and oversee imports from different warehouses and factories in Asia, Europe, and the US. I’ve been doing this for the past couple of years.

Nesrine on Learning Languages

The more languages you speak, the more opportunities you have. I speak Arabic, French, English, some German from study abroad, and some Spanish. Speaking multiple languages has been beneficial; companies always ask about it. For example, speaking French helped when I worked with our warehouses in Belgium and Paris. It also makes it easier to explore different roles.

Nesrine on the IB Program

Working in groups with people from diverse backgrounds at Baruch and going on a study abroad trip were both very helpful. Sarah even connected us with a Baruch alum working at Volkswagen during our Berlin study abroad, which was inspiring. Basically, whatever you incorporate from the classes, study abroad, and the people you work with—it’s all helpful.

Nesrine’s Advice

Take it seriously, enjoy the study abroad experience, and apply for any scholarships because I know many are discouraged by the cost of studying abroad. Baruch offers multiple scholarships, which really helped me. Your classmates can also be a great resource. Start applying for jobs in your senior year; don’t wait until after graduation. Internships along the way definitely help. Just enjoy and embrace the experience—good luck!
