Final Project

For the final project, I decided to do a brochure on St. Lucia.  I chose St. Lucia because it is a beautiful place to vacation and there was a lot of pictures. During this project I had a bit of a hard time because my project was not consistent with the first page.  Which set the tone for the project when I redid it I make all picture in a vertical placement. The text I used was century expand Italics, roman, and maybe baskerville. Working with the grid was so-so there was times it was easy and there was times it was not. When one page moves it affects the rest of the pages after it. Picking a typeface to me was hard because I did not like the way some of them looked.  Since I chose a vacation place I wanted to add pictures to every slide. But in doing so I had to find a balance to it make it look neat and appealing without over doing it. I learned a lot doing this project placing pictures on the grid and making it work was frustrating.  Throughout my project there are quotes, and a bit of information I also used the colors blue, yellow, and black.  Overall, I liked the project the way it turned out the second time is was better.

Illustrated Quote Analysis

This project may have sounded easy at first. Get a picture and quote and put them together to form a new picture, yet it was anything but. First, I was not sure what quote to use I was torn between three really good quotes. I ended up choosing my quote by closing, my eyes and picking. Finding a picture that would go with the quote was fun there are thousands of pictures of heels online. What really narrowed it done was the size and the red heels, I picked just drew me in, red is a really bold color that demands your attention. Putting the picture and quote together was a bit of work because it had to have a variety of different positions. That’s where being creative comes in overall I liked this project it was fun and forced me to be patient.

Hand lettering analysis

For this assignment I chose Century as my typeface. When I saw it I though it might be a bit easy since it’s curvy. Yet when I started drawing I found out that was not the case.

For me the thing I had a bit of trouble with was the S’s and the lower case a. I never thought so much work went into doing a project like this. Spacing was also very important erasing made it a bit harder because it makes the paper messy.

Doing my name free hand was ok there was some letters I got quicker then others. Doing this project I learned a lot and in the end I think the typeface I picked does represent me.
