“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the MakerHub team at Baruch College. The team has been involved and of invaluable assistance in fostering the creative process and scientific method in my Medicinal Chemistry class and “Science and Technology in New York City” seminar. The team organizes a two-day workshop in which students are taught how to design and print objects using 3D printing technology.

After a few lessons in the use of computer aided design, students create an original 3D printed object of importance to healthcare and medicinal chemistry. Students often come up with clever inventions (see examples above).

Along with a poster and a physical 3D printed model, students present their final project at Baruch’s annual Creative Inquiry Day in the “Design and Make” Category funded by MakerHub. Up to the culmination of their project, students collaborate with peers, provide helpful advice to other groups, and improve in their presentation skills, but most importantly learn new skills, which can be utilized in their future careers.”
