Discussion Leader Assignment and Schedule

Discussion Leader Assignment (Online), Worth 5%

Requirements:

Once during the semester, each student is responsible for posting a “discussion leading” blog post (this will be in addition to whatever online assignment was required that week). By 4 PM (no later) on the day of class, you must write a blog post that follows the below requirements. Each student assigned for thtat day will be writing an individual post. Then, during class, you will not be required to present in front of the class — rather I will refer to you at a couple points throughout the class, asking that you share your question, your quote, and your ideas.

The requirements are simple:

  1. Pick out at least one quote from that day’s assigned reading. Post the quote to the blog, make sure you provide the necessary citation information.
  2. In your post, briefly explain what you think the quote means.
  3. Then ask one question DIRECTLY related to the quote and to the assigned reading. Ask a question directly about the text—meaning the plot, or characters, or language, etc etc. It can be something that genuinely confused you if you’d like!
  4. All of the above should be included in a blog post. Put the post under the category of “discussion leaders.”
  5. You should be “on” that day and ready to share what you posted– I will refer to you at a couple points during my discussion for your input.
  6. Do all of the above (and show up on your day) and  you will receive an A.
