Today, EBSCO pushed out a modest set of changes to the search and results pages in all EBSCOhost databases. Overall, the look is cleaner and more modern. Fonts have been changed, more white space is available, and the design of boxes has been simplified. Here are the most notable changes that were detailed on a long blog post from EBSCO today about the update:
Year: 2013
Reference Services Schedule For The Week Of November 4, 2013

Remote Access to Course Reserves Working Again
The course reserves system is once again available from off campus.
Remote Access to Course Reserves Is Not Working
Over the weekend, remote access to the course reserve system stopped working (on campus access seems to be fine). When you try to connect to course reserves right now, you get the usual Baruch login page, and then, once you’re past that, get an error page from Docutek that looks like this:
We’re contacting vendors (Docutek for the course reserves system and OCLC for the EZproxy software that manages remote access to library resources) to find a way to fix this.
UPDATE (10/28/2013, 3:30 pm): The system is now available again from off campus.
The Reference Wiki Is Now the Library Services Wiki
At the suggestion of Randy, the Reference Wiki has been renamed the Library Services Wiki to reflect the fact that it is now being used by Access Services staff to document policies, procedures, best practices etc.
With this name change comes a new URL for the wiki: https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/confluence/display/lib/Library+Services+Wiki
The link on the reference desk guide has been updated to “Library Services Wiki” and points to the new address.

Search Tools That Don’t Use Text Entry
Google researcher, Daniel Russell, posted an interesting list of search tools that don’t require you to enter text for your query. Instead, these tools will use images, audio, or GPS data as your search query.
