For those times when our campus network is experiencing an outage, we can refer off campus users to the CUNY Library Services page listing centrally licensed/purchased databases, which allows login via library ID number.

Network Outage on Monday, Jan. 17
To add to the information from Chistian Keck of BCTC that just came out via email on the faculty-staff mailing list, I’d like to note that the campuswide network outage this coming Monday (Jan. 17) means that the library website will not be available. Although LibGuides and the library catalog will be available (they are not hosted on servers here at Baruch), links to authenticated resources (ebooks, databases, ejournals, etc.) will not work, as the EZ Proxy server we use is located here on campus and will be part of the shutdown.
Emerald to experience downtime
Per Emerald:
In preparation for forthcoming changes to the Emerald website, we will be undertaking essential site maintenance over the next few days, from 19 June, which will result in a period of down time. A message will be displayed on the website during this period. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. We will make every effort to keep down time to a minimum and will seek to reinstate the website at the earliest opportunity.
Mergent Horizon connection issue
There is a connection issue with Mergent Horizon. Currently, a “Network Timeout” error message appears. The message says, “The server at www.mergenthorizon.com is taking too long to respond.” I left a message with Mike W. about the problem.

Please note that the settings in Factiva can be changed by any user after connecting. If the default page in Factiva is set to “News Pages” instead of “Search Builder,” you can change the default back to “Search Builder” by following these steps:
- On the top of the Factiva page in the gray bar, click on “Tools” and select “Preferences.”
- In the Preferences page, click on “General” (This will give you a list of general settings.)
- In the General Settings page, under the section called “Default Views,” the option for “Set your initial page to display on login:” should be set to “Search Builder”
- Click on the Save button on the bottom of the page
