Ceiling? What Ceiling? The Sky is the Limit!

With the government shutdown now officially over via raising the debt ceiling, it seems that apparently the crisis is now officially over. However, one has to look at how this was achieved. Despite bickering between the two parties and the president, default on the US debt obligations was narrowly averted by yet another debt ceiling. ThisĀ so called “debt ceiling” serves no real purpose as Congress keeps recklessly spending, and instead of reining in their spending powers after a budget impasse, Congress simply continues to spend until they reach yet another debt ceiling, simply to raise it yet again. However, this cycle can’t continue indefinitely, as one simply has to wonder how long Congress can keep doing this before other countries and people won’t take them seriously anymore.
