About James: James was elected to the Assembly in 2012 and served six years. During which James fought for the Hudson Valley’s working- and middle-classes who are often overlooked by government. He’s been a champion of better schools, stronger infrastructure, and leveling the playing field. James flipped a long-held Republican district in 2018 where he has continued delivering results while serving with integrity.
Senator James Skoufis during his freshman term as a state Senator, introduced and advanced a robust number of good government bills through both legislative chambers. As Chairman of the chamber’s investigations committee, he launched investigations into dangerous building code practices, drug company middle-men, and wasteful public authority spending across New York State. From closing shady loopholes to giving constituents increased access to government records, Senator Skoufis made it a top priority of his first legislative session to bring accountability where it is due. He passed the most bills out of any freshman Senator.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Senator Skoufis’ office processed over 4,000 individual and specific unemployment cases. Senator Skoufis is co-chairing upcoming oversight hearings on the states COVID-19 response to nursing homes, hospitals, and workforce issues to hold bad-actors accountable and learn what worked and what didn’t work in preparation for the next public health crisis.James Skoufis’ 2020 Re-Election Campaign
