The Joseph S. Murphy Scholarship for Diversity in Labor is committed to diversity and excellence. This unique scholarship was created for women and students of color who wish to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies at the CUNY School for Labor and Urban Studies (SLU). It is available to students nationwide.
The Scholarship Application is available here.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must first apply for early admission – and be accepted – to SLU. Applicants may apply either to the MA in Labor Studies program or the BA in Urban and Community Studies program with a concentration in Labor Studies. Both programs are flexible, interdisciplinary majors that let students pursue a wide range of academic interests and careers, such as labor relations, law, public policy, and social justice.
Awardees of the Diversity Scholarship receive two-year scholarships of up to $30,000 (graduate students) and up to $20,000 (undergraduate students). To be eligible, undergraduate students must have earned 60 or more prior college credits, with at least a 2.5 GPA. Graduate students must have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in their prior undergraduate-level work. Questions about the application process should be directed to the SLU Scholarships Office at [email protected].
REQUIRED: Early Admission to MA or BA degree program. Your degree program application is due March 4, 2021 to be eligible for the Diversity Scholarship.
