Economics and Education VS Wall Street Protest
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWP9WF5dj-g
This week we learned chapter 9 which include the information about economic and education. According to the book, we know that economics globlization has a big social problem, including people who have high levels but can not find a job. A lot of people who are graduated from colleges with loans but still unemployment. This point make me think the Wall Street Protest which was happened last year.
Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is an ongoing series of demonstrations. The evens happen in New York City based in Zuccotti Park in the Wall Street financial district. The protesters’ slogan ” We are the 99% refers to the difference in wealth and income growth in the U.S between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population. From the links, we knows a lot of people could not find a job and million of people lost a job, but most of them have a high levels education. people felt that the government is controlled by rich people because rich people benefited by a better education. Rich people become more rich and poor people become more poor. Even if the economic crash but banks are still give incredible bonuses to the CEO. People expected and hoped that the government could give more benefits and financial support to poor people.
I think people have a right to protest. The Occupy Wall Street protests is really helpful for the people who are not satisfied about the social and economic inequality, corporate greed, corruption and influence over government, particularly form the financial services sector-and lobbyists. Everyone working together can give the government much pressure that they can get more chance to accomplish their goals. If people have a problem but they do not speak up, they will be in a bad condition forever.

Divorce
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38XOStSIgII&feature=related
In this week, we learned the chapter 7 which talked about divorce. Divorve becomes more common and acceptable in today’s society and rate of divorce still increase. From the book, it states that divorce rate be associated with socioeconomic development. such as developing countries has lower divorce rate than developed countires. American has the highest rate of divorce in the world, but China and Indina have lower rate. It seems that countries where people have religious and relate their marriage to the God, the rate of divorce will be less. Another reason that women role in the developing countries are very family oriented, they will stay with their marriage no matter what happen. they usually be a housewife which is take care of their families. But women in developed countries has more right to choose their life and they are allow to leave their marriage if they are no satisafied.
From the video, Dr. Drew’s Lifechanger/Master Matchmaker Steve Ward has his own take on why a lot of couples are getting divorced today. This Lifechanger thinks it’s easy to walk away from marriage these days and the social stigma attached to divorce has disappeared. In fact, Steve says that people almost feel cool to get deivorced and they had divorce parties. Steve is disgusted by divorce parties, and believes ending a marriage means failure no matter how you slice it.
Nowadays, it is commonly believed that 50 percent of marriages will end in divorce, but on the 50, 60 and 70 century, divorce was relatively uncommon and difficult to get. because of religious, economic and social role, etc. As result, a lot of reasons will cause divorce, but if couples can have an understanding of themselves, they should learn how to handle things by themselves and try to understand the relationship of marriage, I believe the rate of divorce will decrease.

Healthcare systems around the world
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOZmvaFfjtk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ1lPPTPSR4
I think about healthcare systems around the world when we learned the chapter 5 about different cultures. Different countries have different healthcare systems and different way to treat patients.
The health care in the United Stated is to expensive that people cannot afford. According to the film ” Sicko”, Nearly 50 Americans who do not have health insurance, Donna Smith’s family selling their house instead of to live in their daughter’s storage room to afford health care. A lot of people are not able to pay their hospitals fees, because every time people receive billd which a lot of fees are very expensive so that they cannot afford. On the contrary, in other countries, such as Canada, the UK and France, all legal residents are covered by public health insurance. For example, the movie shows Moore interview patient and inquires about in hospital expense incurred by patient in Canadian, only to be told that patients did not need to pay for anything. Most people have extra private insurance to cover aread that are eligible to pay for when they go to see a doctor.
The other point is quality of hospital care. In the United State, people have to wait for a long time when they go to hospitals. people who work in the hospital does not care about how long patients should wait and how many people are on the waiting list. They do not realize that patients really need help. On the contrarry, in the movie, Moore interviewed people waiting in the emergency room of a Canadian public hospital that they just need to wait about 10 minutes or littler longer, even if there wad crowd. People who work in the hospital really do an amazing job, they want patient to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Peolpe will have different ways to dealing with a lot of things, such as the movie shows about the service in the hospital, just because the environment which we grow up are dissimiliar, and we have different cultures.

Education & ” Waiting For Superman “
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bzFhrkqE8g
In the chapter 5, the book shows about education. In contemportrary industrial societies, the most powerful institutional agent of socalization, after the family, is education. we will think about teachers’ quality when we talk about education. Everyone knows teachers play an important role in the quality of education. Great teachers help create great students. However, students who have good teachers not only learn more but also become successful in their education careers. Unfortunately, most teachers fail to imube in students basic values of life.
In today’s society, a lot of schools lack of good teachers because teacher’s licenses become easier to pass. However, students achievement has become a big problem. Most teachers lack training and experience, so they cannot explain their couses very clearly to their students. This causes students to get low grades in their studies. Schools do not choose higher quality teachers; instead, they just settle for licenced teachers. There is no doubt that bad teachers teach professional. Howevcr, schools need teacher, so bad teachers do not get fired. For example, the movie” waiting for superman”, showed a teacher sitting in chair and putting his feet on the table and also reading the newspaper, but the school did not fire the teacher caught on video not doing his job. Students cannnot participate in their classes if they have unqualified teachers.
From the information about the education and move which is ” waiting for superman” , I think the government should raise licensing standers by giving different kinds of skill tests and also developing a test system, includes questions to understand teachers’ attitude about teaching students and future plans to helo them become an excellent educator and students can gain real knowledge that help them become success in their life.

Society – Is Everybody Going Crazy?
Most people do not realize the trouble that they go through in personal life is also a sociological issues. Undoubtedly, social issues are much larger than individual problem because they affect a bigger part of society. From a example of the chapter one which is taking a new look at a familiar world. Andre was a model student who graduated from a college. He loved to join different activities at his own school whenever he was free. His graduates were excellent and made the dean’s list during four years. Andre had a very clear plan for the future and believed he would get success. However, everything did not go what he thought, therefore, he was unable to get a stable job. He began to suspect his own ability. However, Andre’s employ ability was as much as a result of the economic forces operating at the time when he began applying job. most people had the same situation as him. Moreover, unemployment also is a big issue in that time. So that this example is not only a personal problem but also a social issue.
A music video which is “Society – Is Everybody Going Crazy?” that also demonstrates the links between personal troubles and societal issues. The video shows us about people asking money on the street; homeless people sleeping in the corner; people suffering depression; Teenagers using drug breast enhancement; young people doing cosmetic surgery; kids working in the sweatshop; people committing suicide, and so on. A part of the video that shocks me is that parents always fight in front of children that will to some extent cause great shadow in children’s life that effects on children’s emotional and overall health and their relationships with others later in life. On the other side, in the America 50 percent of marriages will end in divorce. All these troubles already from personal problems become social issues. But nobody cares and nobody wants to share issues we face in today’s society. I wish we could change all these issues taht we can have a better environment to live.
