September 2019 saw two of Baruch College’s biggest career fairs for undergraduate students The Fall 2019 Undergraduate and Graduate Accounting Fair, and the Fall 2019 Undergraduate Career Day.
The Fall 2019 Undergraduate and Graduate Accounting Fair took place on September 6th, and welcomed a record number of 50 employers looking forward to meet and potentially recruit students with career focuses on accounting, finance, CIS, Economics and other related majors. The Fall 2019 Undergraduate Career Day was held on September 20th, and welcomed 87 employers across more than 10 industries including but not limited to accounting, healthcare, media and communications, not for profit and government, finance, consulting, beauty and others.
Undergraduate students from all three schools at Baruch – The Weissman School of Arts & Sciences, The Zicklin School of Business and The Marxe School of Public and International Affairs – were invited to meet with professionals from organizations such as Bloomberg, Enterprise Holdings, KPMG, PwC, RSM, Publicis Media, Havas Health & You, NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Correction, Metroplus Health, SEO Career, The Estee Lauder Company, and many more, and given the opportunity to introduce themselves as potential employees to representatives from these and other organizations such as BNP Paribas, New York Life, Deloitte, Moody’s, Con Edison, Uncommon Charter Schools, and US Census Bureau, among others.

Sponsored by the Starr Career Development Center, more than 600 students attended the Accounting Fair, and nearly 1000 students attended Undergraduate Career Day, with several Baruch Alumni returning as recruiters and employers representing their organizations. One of the most popular services provided by Starr – the Clothing Closet – a wardrobe of business attire which is available for students year round to borrow from, free of cost, for professional meetings, interviews and networking events also made its presence felt on event day. Faria Arni, a Baruch junior majoring in marketing said, “The Clothing Closet is one of the most underrated things about Starr. They have suits, ties, and business formal attire available for students to borrow. The best part is Starr’s staff members taking the time out to measure each student to help them find the right look and feel before meeting potential employers.”

Dr. Ellen Stein, director of Starr Career Development Center said, “We are so excited to host these incredibly successful organizations, and so proud of our students for taking these first steps in their career journeys. Baruch has a pool of immense talent amongst its undergraduate student cohort, and we at Starr strive to make sure their potential is tapped into and represented in the right way. We are thankful to all the support we have received from the Baruch administration, faculty, staff, Public Safety and students for helping us make these two events the successes they were.”
The Starr Career Development Center would like to thank all of the Deans, staff, faculty, volunteers, students and participating organizations for attending the Fall 2019 Undergraduate and Graduate Accounting Fair and the Fall 2019 Undergraduate Career Day. We look forward to featuring these organizations and many more in a variety of innovative networking opportunities that will enable students to advance their careers.
