Launched in the spring of 2008, Baruch College’s Task Force on Sustainability is part of the City University of New York’s Sustainability Project. Through its sub-committees, the Task Force promotes research, initiates relationships with civic and corporate entities, and also supports the integration of subject matter related to sustainability into the curriculum.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Baruch College Task Force on Sustainability is to create a culture within the Baruch community – students, faculty, and staff – which understands, values, and practices sustainability, and seeks to solve local, regional, and global sustainability challenges.
Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In an effort to make Baruch College more sustainable and to facilitate broad College-based learning about sustainability, we will engage the entire College community.
By delivering new curriculum, stimulating learning outside of the classroom, supporting student-organized projects, supporting research, maintaining an up-to-date website, renovating facilities and utilizing them as demonstration laboratories, collaborating with financial, governmental, and not-for-profit organizations, and convening conferences, Baruch College will become a sustainability leader for the greater metropolitan region and for urban settings nationwide.
