See something new around campus?

Join the movement to take the stairs!

The Task Force’s most recent project, the Stair Riser banners, can be seen ascending from the first to second floor in the North Vertical Campus building on 25th Street. This project is collaboration with Baruch’s Eco Club to encourage students to take the stairs instead of the escalators. The objective is to create awareness of the carbon emissions we let off into the atmosphere when running the escalators. We hope that by encouraging students to take the stairs we can petition to the college to turn off the escalators for certain days and times of the week. This has the ultimate goal of reducing the amount of carbon pollution we breathe in and shrink Baruch’s carbon footprint. The Task Force had counted the number of people who walked up the stairs and took the escalators at designated days and time.
